Questions about our fitness
classes for figure skaters?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I haven’t skated in over a decade. Is this class right for me?
ABSOLUTELY! Our approach on the ice is very “choose your own adventure”. With every exercise we offer a modification for anyone who feels like something might be #TeamTooMuch for them. We start off with some easy, feel-good skating because let’s be real, we all need a bit more warming up these days. Skate & Sculpt is meant to be a friendly, inclusive environment that helps you reconnect with the ice in your own way!

What level do I have to be skating at to be able to keep up?
We recommend having passed Pre Juvenile moves (USFS) or Freestyle 4 (ISI) at some point in your life. That being said, if you can skate backwards, and are comfortable on one foot, this is still a great class for you. Exercises start off very simple, and increase in difficulty as we get moving, so you’ll have a chance to get comfortable. Look out for lots of three-turns, some rockers, m-turns and c-turns, and maybe even some counters on a crazy day. As always, we offer lots of modifications!

What do I need to bring to class?
We HIGHLY recommend bringing some skates (can you joke in a FAQ?) but really you do need to bring skates because rental is not always open or available. Other than that, we recommend layers, all rinks are different and since most rinks are just glorified freezers, we want you to be comfortable! Be ready to get a good sweat in, and bring hydration, because apparently that’s important too!

OUR
POLICIES

We follow all state and local safety protocols.

We follow the CDC Concussion protocol, and require that Skate & Sculpt coaches are First Aid/CPR certified. Skate & Sculpt has a strict head contact policy. If a skater’s head makes contact with the ice, they are no longer permitted to skate on that session.
